A Family-Owned Business with Humble Foundations

Founded in 1959 by Tell D. Tuffli, Tell Steel began with one power hack saw, a truck, and a 5,000-square-foot facility with a single bay. As a family business located near the Port of Long Beach, Tell Steel launched with a commitment to provide customers with premium quality industrial steel and exceptional customer service. Those values remain with Tell Steel to the present day.

60 Years of Company Growth

Over the following decades, Tell Steel experienced rapid growth while expanding warehouse facilities and steel fabrication services. The company earned a reputation as a trusted steel distributor for the local Long Beach area, with an increasing customer base across Southern California. After launching with only one power hack saw, Tell Steel's processing equipment developed into automatic band saws, multiple programmable torch flame-cutting machines, a plasma cutting machine, plate shears, and more.

Today, Tell Steel's facilities include over 100,000 square feet of inventory across multiple bays. With more than 17 million pounds of metal supplies in stock and 4,000 individual product line items, we supply commercial and private customers of all sizes nationwide with premium industrial metal.
